Fees, Insurance, and Getting Started

Clear information, no surprises

Therapy is an investment in your wellbeing. My goal is to make the process clear and manageable from the very first conversation.

We will review your situation together so that you know what to expect before scheduling your first full session.

Consultation

Free 15-minute consultation

This is a brief in-person, phone, or video call where we talk about what is bringing you in, what you would like to change, and how I can help.

You can ask questions about fees, insurance, or the therapy process. You can learn more about me and how I work.

There is no obligation to continue, and you will not be charged for this call.

Getting started

You do not need to be certain that therapy is the right choice before reaching out. The first step is simply a conversation.

We will talk about what is going on, answer questions about coverage and cost, and decide whether this feels like a good fit for you.

Insurance

I am an in-network provider for Lyra Health.

I am an out-of-network provider for most other insurance plans. This means you pay for your sessions directly and can request partial reimbursement from your insurance company, if you have a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) healthcare plan.

Many clients receive 50–80% back after their deductible is met.

I provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) each month that you can submit for reimbursement.

If you are unsure how this works, I can guide you through the steps during our first call.

Using Your Insurance

Ask your insurance provider:

  1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  2. What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed?

  3. What is my deductible, and how much of it have I met?

  4. Do I need pre-authorization for psychotherapy?

You can also use HSA or FSA cards to pay for therapy, since these are eligible medical expenses.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are billed at the full session rate.

I keep this policy consistent to protect time for all clients.

What to Expect After You Book

You will receive a confirmation email and a link to your secure client portal.

  1. There, you can complete basic forms and review privacy policies.

  2. I will personally review your request and confirm your appointment within one business day.

  3. Before your first session, you can message me directly through the portal if you have questions.

(All communication is encrypted and HIPAA-compliant.)

Financial Transparency

You will always know what you are paying for. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges.

If your financial situation changes, we can revisit the rate or frequency of sessions together.

Why I Do Not Bill Insurance Directly

Insurance companies often require diagnostic codes, progress summaries, or copies of treatment notes to approve payment.

By staying out-of-network, I can protect your privacy and maintain full control of your treatment plan without outside influence.

This also allows us to focus on your goals rather than labels or billing requirements.

If Cost is a Concern

Please bring it up.

Therapy should not add unnecessary stress to your life. We can discuss frequency, session length, or lower-fee options when available.

I can also provide referrals to community clinics or other trusted providers if needed.
