Coming Out, Sexual Orientation, or Gender Identity Concerns
LGBTQA+ AFFIRMING THERAPY
Living authentically while navigating identity, belonging, and acceptance
Understanding and expressing your sexual orientation or gender identity can be both empowering and deeply complex.
For many people, “coming out” isn’t a single moment; it’s an evolving process of understanding yourself, finding language for that identity, and deciding when, how, and with whom to share it.
Sometimes that journey is liberating. Other times, it’s layered with fear, shame, family expectations, or cultural pressures that make self-acceptance feel like a moving target.
Therapy provides a confidential, non-judgmental space to explore who you are, what belonging means to you, and how to live authentically without sacrificing safety or connection.

Common Experiences and Concerns
You might notice one or more of these:
Feeling anxious or uncertain about labeling your sexual orientation or gender identity
Stress about coming out to family, friends, or colleagues
Internalized shame, guilt, or confusion from early messages about sexuality or gender
Grief over lost relationships or rejection
Difficulty navigating dating, relationships, or community belonging
Conflict between cultural or religious identity and sexual/gender identity
Questioning how to integrate different parts of yourself into one whole
Wherever you are in your journey (questioning, out, exploring, or redefining), therapy can help you make sense of it with compassion and clarity.

How Therapy Helps
Identity exploration isn’t about fitting a label; it’s about developing a secure relationship with yourself.
In therapy, we’ll work to:
Explore your story. Understand how early experiences, messages, and relationships shaped how you see yourself.
Address internalized stigma. Challenge beliefs that cause shame or self-doubt.
Build resilience. Develop coping strategies for discrimination, rejection, or cultural stress.
Integrate your identity. Strengthen your ability to express your authentic self across relationships and settings.
Cultivate self-acceptance and belonging. Reconnect with joy, community, and purpose.
You deserve to live a life that reflects who you truly are; not who the world told you to be.

Inclusive and Affirming Care
I welcome and affirm clients across the spectrum of sexual and gender identities, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, non-binary, questioning, and asexual individuals.
As an immigrant and multicultural clinician, I understand that cultural background, family expectations, and religion often shape how we experience identity and belonging.
Together, we’ll create space for all of your identities, not just your sexuality or gender, to exist and thrive together.
My Approach
I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), identity-affirming therapy, and trauma-informed approaches to help clients move from self-doubt to self-acceptance.
As a Licensed Psychologist and AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist, I specialize in helping people connect sexuality, mental health, and cultural experience in a holistic way.
Therapy focuses on empowerment, authenticity, and reconnecting with your values - not on “fixing” who you are.

THERAPY DEDICATED TO THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY
Participating in therapy or any mental health treatment prioritizes your physical and emotional safety. One effective way to honor your safety is by working with a non-judgmental therapist, such as an LGBTQIA+ affirming professional. In therapy, you should feel free to discuss anything that matters to you, including race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, culture, and lifestyle, all of which contribute to your unique identity.
I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment in my practice. I affirm everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, lifestyle, or consensual relationship constellation. My mission is to provide each person with the most attuned and validating care, no matter who you are or what support you seek.
I recognize that for some individuals, exploring gender, gender expression, sexuality, and sexual orientation is significant in therapy. However, it's important to note that not every member of the LGBTQIA+ community seeks therapy for these reasons. Being part of the LGBTQIA+ community does not need to be the central focus of your treatment, and it will not hinder your ability to pursue other goals in therapy.

Three of the most important tenets of effective therapy are trust, safety, and the ability to unfold. For members of the LGBTQIA+ community, the need for these elements remains essential. When you find a therapist you can trust, you are more likely to authentically open up and address any mental health issues you may be facing.
I work with patients of all sexual orientations and genders. In addition to addressing mental health concerns such as eating disorders, depression, and anxiety disorders, I have expertise in helping with issues often unique to LGBTQIA+ individuals.
While this is not an exhaustive list, some of the topics I focus on include:
• Exploring gender identity or sexual orientation
• Developing healthy relationships
• Addressing social stigma, discrimination, or related shame
• Coming out safely and with liberation
• Stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions
• Sexual practices and lifestyles
• Navigating toxic or unsupportive family dynamics
• Self-esteem and confidence
• Safer sex practices
• Suicidal ideation, prevention, and support
• Chemsex
• Survivors of homophobic attacks
• Survivors of conversion therapy
• Receiving an HIV diagnosis, living with HIV, and having a relationship with different HIV statuses
• Excessive use of the gym and exercise, preoccupation with gaining muscles
• Body image issues
If what you’d like to work on is not on this list, that’s perfectly fine. I am here to help! My inclusive and expansive therapy approach can empower you to build confidence, resilience, and self-love, while also developing and strengthening an unapologetic appreciation and celebration of your authentic self.
